Writing with a quilting stitch

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I have incorporated handwriting using a quilting stitch on my longarm on a few quilts, and realized this morning that the process might be easier if I could write backwards…OK, it was about 4:30 in the morning. In any case, the background of this quilt is made up of only one repeated letter, so I gave it a try, and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was!  I will have to try whole words next. I have found that my cursive is generally neater in my quilts than on paper…

New Home, Back from SAQA & Quilt National

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Just returned from the SAQA art quilters’ conference and concurrent Quilt National exhibit:  excited, inspired, and very tired!  It was great to meet many people whose work I have seen and put a face to the art.  And of course the quilts were AMAZING!

Here are some photos of our new home, or at least the outside of it.  The views are gorgeous!  Very relaxing and inspiring.  I am working hard to get the new studio (twice as big as the old one!) set up & ready to work in.  I will post photos of the the studio soon.

An Art Exhibit

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

My quilt “A Child’s Prayer” is being shown this weekend in an art exhibit celebrating the Resurrection. I am excited about this exhibit, as it is the first time a fiber piece has been included. For locals, please see North Coast Calvary Chapels website for hours of the show starting tomorrow.mchale_childsprayer_full
